(J. Braymen)

November, 2016 - "Wow. What a show Lindsay put on for us on Saturday. Her gorgeous haunting melodies coupled with her wonderful, distinctive, sometimes smoky voice made for an truly magical evening. I had several friends comment that it was "Best Show We've Hosted Yet". Sounding sometimes like Janis Joplin and next like Linda Ronstadt, her amazing voice and talented songwriting left everybody wanting for more. Friendly, Honest and Open Personality. We can't wait to have her back again next year."

Lindsay May is an acoustic guitar and mandolin wielding songstress with itchy feet and home base with a lake view and wood stove!  A prolific songwriter with a direct connection to her muse, Lindsay wrote enough material for her and Mark Gordon to record and produce two americana/alt-country albums at once.  Her second and third albums.  Folks says she sounds like a mix of k.d.lang, Kathleen Edwards, Alison Krauss and Lucinda Williams and Linda Rondstadt.  And most recently, Margo Timmins (Cowboy Junkies, crossed with Janis Joplin.)

Both albums were recorded at Vancouver's Nimbus recording studios in 2011/2012.  The first album 'Shimmer', was released in March 2012 to a Grade A- review form the Vancouver Province.  The second, Girl with Grit - an album about not giving up - was released January 2014 followed by a three month tour across Canada during the most frigid winter in 30 years.  It ended in late March with a NERFA showcase in New Jersey and a trip of a lifetime drive home through the US and then back up into Canada.... and once home, an incredibly long nap.  She's writing her next album right now!

Lindsay has toured extensively.  2014 Saw her criss-cross North America from New Jersey back to British Columbia and 2015 was a month in Germany and the Netherlands.  2016 was playing BC wineries and festivals with a tour of the Western US, Vancouver Island, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

She has been asked back every time...

Lindsay has been a serious songwriter for over ten years.  She was accepted into the Bill Henderson/Roy Forbes songwriting workshops in Summerland, BC for five years straight back in the 2000's, has read every songwriting how-to book she could find and attended every workshop and seminar that was available.  She then wrote, released and toured her debut album 'Bronze and Blue' in 2008 and toured it across Canada, visited Nashville and even spent a few summers busking to hone her skills and get feedback.  And it has paid off.

  • A New Mountain Stage Regional Songwriting Finalist in 2010

Not only are her songwriting skills top notch, also, her live performance skills keep getting her some prime gigs including being asked to open for Valdy, John Gorka,  American Aquarium and Shari Ulrich and being asked back 4 times to perform at Harmony Arts Festival and Vancouver's Motown Meltdown charity benefit at the Commodore Ballroom.

"Equipped with an engaging stage presence and a sincere gift for gab, she’s also blessed with a larger-than-life voice and the enthusiasm to drive it home, commanding complete attention."  - Roots Music Canada
