Hey everyone :)
It's been awhile... and I'm sorry for the delay in my most recent update. I'm not sure if you heard, but I had a pretty rough year in 2012 and 2013. My mom passed away September 2012, my grandma, (her mom), died two days later... and then my dog Elvis died in December 2012... which led to me breaking down. Then my last grandfather on my dad's side died just this past fall.
Along with the overwhelming family stress and incredible amounts of paperwork came an enormous, life changing sadness. I was very very depressed, received months of counselling and medication and had significant changes to my personal relationships.
I did play a few shows last summer which was an excellent distraction and then I ended up moving... for how long still to be determined... up to the North Shuswap. It's very quiet. I have to chop wood, fix things around the house and look out at the lake. I get to walk my neighbour's dogs and shovel snow. It's all very good for the soul.... except maybe the shovelling! Yes I'm accepting snow blower donations.
Now I'm very glad to say that things are on the upswing. Having something to look forward to really helps :)
Girl with Grit
A few years back I made two records at once with my friend Mark Gordon at Nimbus Recording School in Vancouver. The first.. Shimmer, which I'm sure you all have and the second... Girl with Grit. This my new record and it's coming out January 21st on iTunes (and my website) with a big CD release and cross country tour starting January 25th 2014 from Vancouver, BC.
Hence this email :)
I'd love if you could join me in celebrating this release... wherever you are. I'm booked throughout Western Canada with a trip south to Folk Alliance in Kansas City, MO and just booking into Central Canada and the East.
If you'd like to host a house concert for me in your home, let me know. I'd love to do it.
My website has been updated, all confirmed tour dates are there so please take a look and tell me what you think. Also, there will be lots going on with me in the media in the next little while. I'd really appreciate if you could share this with all your friends :)
